NIA searches Saokat Molla’s home and party office, son questioned in Bhangar blast case
A 42-year-old man, Asif Qureshi, cousin of actor Huma Qureshi, was stabbed to death on Thursday night in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area after an argument over parking space. The incident took place around 10 pm when Asif asked two men to move their scooter away from the entrance of his house. A verbal altercation followed, after which the men reportedly left but returned within minutes and attacked him with a sharp weapon.
Asif’s wife, Shaheen Asif Qureshi, stated that the confrontation began when a neighbour parked a scooter outside their house and her husband requested that it be moved. “The man abused Asif and threatened to come back,” she said. Soon after, the man returned with his brother and allegedly stabbed Asif. “I called Javed, my brother-in-law, but by the time he reached, Asif had lost a lot of blood and died,” she added.
Asif was rushed to the National Heart Institute in East of Kailash, where he was declared brought dead. According to Shaheen, the doctors told her that he had died about an hour and a half earlier. She also alleged that the accused had tried to kill her husband in the past, though details of any prior police complaint have not been mentioned.
The two accused have been identified as Ujjwal (19) and Gautam (18). Both were arrested shortly after the incident and the murder weapon has been recovered. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to murder.
Asif Qureshi was engaged in the poultry business. His uncle, Saleem Qureshi, father of Huma Qureshi, expressed shock over the incident. “Two men parked a scooter in front of the house. Asif asked them to move it aside and not block the entrance. They were two, together they killed my nephew,” he said.
